Child Abuse Prevention Month
Prevention happens when families are strong and communities are supportive. Raising awareness is a critical and foundational step in preventing child abuse. When we take action, children are safer and have the opportunity to grow up healthy and strong. Child Abuse Prevention Month is our opportunity to build support for what we know must happen year-round: supporting parents and caregivers and building the relationships and connections in communities so that families can readily access what they need to help every child. Join us with others across the state in sharing this important message and by displaying a pinwheel, a symbol of our message.
Here's how you can show your support: Share the message that the well-being of children and families is directly related to if they live in supportive, strong, inclusive, and stable communities. Here's how:
- Create and display pinwheels at your home or in your community.
- Take action! Join or host a Front Porch Project or Protective Factors workshop!
- Connect with your local Prevention Councils, in every county in Maine, for additional events, trainings, and workshops.
- For the month of April, get social for CAP Month:
- Follow the Maine Children's Trust on Facebook and share our posts!
- Update your profile pic to a pinwheel, a symbol of the importance of child abuse prevention efforts.
- Join us on Friday, April 4th, 2025 for Wear Blue Day and post pictures of you, your family, and/or your friends and colleagues wearing blue.
- Tag the Trust @MaineChildrensTrust and use hashtags #CAPMonth #wearblueday2025
